LAHORE: Left-arm spinner Anam Amin of the Stars overshadowed Challengers’ opener Sadaf Shamas, while Muneeba Ali of the Invincibles scored a fine half-century in the five-team National Women’s One-Day Tournament in Faisalabad on Sunday.

After the Stars had set the Challengers a 188-run target, Anam returned excellent figures of 8.2-0-34-5 to bowl them out for 150 in 37.2 overs. Sadaf fought a lone battle with a gutsy 95 off 127 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes.

Together with Huraina Sajjad (32), Sadaf added 89 runs for the third wicket. But once Anam broke the stand at 101, the remaining wickets fell like ninepins, with Anam—supported by Syeda Aroob Shah (2-20)—running through the middle order to seal a 37-run win for the Stars.

In the other match of the day, Momina Riasat took 3-18 and Tasmina Rubab bagged 3-24 as the Strikers were dismissed for 112. The Invincibles chased down the target for the loss of two wickets in 20.5 overs, with Muneeba Ali smashing a 69-ball 80 with 14 fours and a six.
