LAHORE: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) defeated defending champions State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) by three wickets on the opening day of the President’s Cup One-Day Tournament at the UBL Sports Complex on Monday.

After Mohammad Irfan Khan (82 not out) and Salman Ali Agha (80) steered SBP to 302 for five, OGDCL romped to victory for the loss of seven wickets in 48.5 overs following contributions from Mohammad Sarwar (82 not out), Adil Amin (65), Danish Aziz (44), Asif Afridi (33 not out), Rohail Nazir (30), and Imam-ul-Haq (28).

Elsewhere, Pakistan Television (PTV) defeated Ghani Glass by seven wickets, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) beat Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) by 166 runs, and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) handed a seven-wicket drubbing to debutants Sahir Associates.

The highlights of the opening day were centuries from PTV’s Shamyl Hussain (112 not out, 87b, 8×4, 6×6) and the SNGPL duo of Saad Khan (115, 102b, 14×4, 3×6) and Mohammad Awais Zafar (108 not out, 57b, 5×4, 9×6), alongside four-wicket hauls by PTV’s Ali Usman (four for 33) and SNGPL’s Mubasir Khan (four for 43).
