LAHORE: Saturday’s matches in the National T20 Cup produced exceptional individual performances, as Sialkot and Karachi Blues joined Multan and Abbottabad at the top of the Group B points table, effectively eliminating Lahore Blues from the race.

Sialkot defeated Abbottabad by 31 runs, while Karachi Blues overcame Lahore Blues by 57 runs. These results mean Sialkot, Karachi Blues, Multan, and Abbottabad are now tied on two wins apiece, though Karachi Blues is the only side to have played all four of its matches. In the decisive final-round fixtures on Monday, Sialkot will face Multan in a virtual quarter-final. Simultaneously, Abbottabad must beat Lahore Blues to progress; otherwise, Karachi Blues will secure a spot in the semifinals.

Abdullah Shafique missed a well-deserved century by just four runs as Sialkot defeated Abbottabad. Abdullah belted four fours and seven sixes in a 54-ball 96 to help Sialkot post 202 for six after being sent into bat. Hasan Nawaz was Sialkot’s other standout batter, scoring 57 from 34 balls with six fours and three sixes. Together, the duo added 145 runs for the third wicket.

Sialkot’s run-spree was kept in check by left-arm fast bowler Shahab Khan, who returned outstanding figures of 4-0-25-5. The only other wicket was claimed by Shadab Khan.

Sialkot captain Usama Mir then took control of proceedings in Abbottabad’s run-chase, recording figures of 4-0-42-4 as Abbottabad were bowled out for 171. Usama received strong support from Mohammad Ali, Shoaib Akhtar Jnr, and Ahsan Hafeez Bhatti, who took two wickets each.

In the second match, Karachi Blues’ Saad Baig scored an unbeaten 72 to help his side post 206 for three. Saad’s 37-ball innings was studded with seven fours and four sixes. Alongside Mohammad Usman Rahim (33 not out), Saad added 89 runs for the unfinished fourth-wicket partnership.

Fast bowlers Shahnawaz Dahani and Jahandad Khan then combined to stifle the Lahore Blues’ chase. Shahnawaz recorded figures of 4-24 from his three overs, while Jahandad claimed 4-25 as Lahore Blues were bundled out for 149 in 17.3 overs. Saad Nasim was Lahore’s top scorer with a 33-ball 47.
