LAHORE: Opener Sameer Minhas (177 not out) and Ahmed Hussan (132) added 293 runs for the third wicket to script a one-sided victory of 297 runs for Pakistan U19 over Malaysia U19 in the ACC U19 50-over Asia Cup at the The Seven Stadium in Dubai on Friday.

Both the batters had joined hands after Pakistan, put into bat, were 30 for two and were separated at the total of 323, which was the platform for Pakistan’s 345 for three in 50 overs.

In turn, fast bowlers Ali Raza and Mohamad Sayyam took three wickets apiece as Malaysia were dismissed for 48 inside 20 overs. Ali Raza recorded figures of 6-3-11-3, while Sayyam had figures of 6-0-27-3. Daniyal Ali Khan bagged two wickets for six runs.

However, the match’s highlight was the batting performances of Sameer and Ahmed.

Sameer struck 11 fours and eight sixes in a 148-ball 177 not out, while Ahmed hit eight fours and two sixes in a 114-ball 132. Batters, who missed out on an opportunity to gain some valuable match practice before the 14 December match against India, were Usman Khan (1) and Ali Hassan Baloch (14).
