LAHORE: Fast bowlers Naseem Shah of Lahore and Multan’s Aamer Yamin claimed five-wicket hauls, while Bahawalpur’s Mohammad Ammar scored a century on the third day of the four-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-round matches on Wednesday.

Naseem, who was wicketless in the 28.2 overs Lahore bowled yesterday, returned figures of 16-6-34-5 as Islamabad slipped from 95 for one to 256 all-out at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium. Islamabad had started the day at 91 for one, with Shamyl Hussain beginning the day at 46 and falling to Ubaid Shah (two for 56) after a well-made 86 (14×4, 253b).

After Islamabad plummeted to 128 for six, a rearguard action helped the home side to post a decent score. No. 9 batter Musa Khan scored 35, No. 8 batter Haris Rauf scored 34, and No. 10 Jawad Ali chipped in with 27.

At the draw of stumps, Lahore had reached 152 for three in 33 overs, with notable run-scorers being Tayyab Tahir (43), Hussain Talat (32 not out), and Salman Ali Agha (23 not out). Haris Rauf, Nursrat Ullah, and Mohammad Musa Khan took one wicket apiece.

FATA V MULTAN

At the Diamond Cricket Stadium, FATA were dismissed for 273 after starting the day at 71 for two. Mohammad Sarwar Bhatti, Haseebullah, and Mohammad Wasim Khan scored sparkling half-centuries, while fast bowler Aamer Yamin excelled for Multan when he returned figures of 18.4-4-48-5.

Sarwar top-scored with 80 (12×4, 1×6, 120b), while Haseebullah scored 63 (9×4, 163b) and Wasim contributed 53 (6×4, 1×6, 135b).

When play ended, Multan were 88 for three in 31 overs. Opener Zain Abbas was the top-scorer with 47, while Shahid Aziz claimed two wickets.

KARACHI V FAISALABAD

At the Marghzar Cricket Ground, Karachi Blues added 131 runs to their overnight score of 346 for five to be bowled out for 477 by Faisalabad. Danish Aziz, who started the day at 114, was dismissed for 155 (21×4, 4×6, 231b) and not before he had put on 133 runs for the sixth wicket with Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (83, 12×4, 120b).

For Faisalabad, Faham-ul-Haq and Ahmed Safi Abdullah took three wickets each, conceding 59 and 102 runs, respectively.

When stumps were drawn for the day, Faisalabad had reached 198 for four in 52 overs after Mohammad Irfan Khan Niazi and Hassan Raza put on 110 runs for the unfinished fifth wicket. Irfan was batting on 78, while opener Hassan was at the crease on 73. For Karachi, fast bowler Mushtaq Ahmed took three wickets for 52 runs.

ABBOTTABAD V BAHAWALPUR

Mohammad Ammar scored a brilliant century to help Bahawalpur collect 399 in 95.3 overs after starting the day at 76-2 in 21.3 overs at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. Ammar finished at 105 in 144 balls with 12 fours and two sixes, while No. 8 batter Muhammad Imran contributed a valuable 66 off 59 balls with six fours and four sixes.

Abbottabad’s Israr Hussain, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Mohammad Ali picked up three wickets apiece, conceding 78, 86, and 89 runs, respectively.

When play ended, Abbottabad were 23 for no loss in seven overs.

PESHAWAR V SIALKOT

At the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, Waqar Ahmed scored 67, Israr Ullah scored 32, and Mohammad Rizwan was 21 not out as Peshawar reached 154 for four after only 49 overs of play was possible on the third day. The opening two days of play were lost due to bad weather and a wet outfield.
