Pakistan claim number one ODI ranking
Pakistan’s balanced performance with both bat and ball secured a convincing victory over Afghanistan to reclaim the No.1 spot in the ODI rankings. Pakistan last surged to the No.1 spot on 5 May 2023 after earning a 4-0 lead in the five-match series against New Zealand at home.
Babar Azam’s leadership, Mohammad Rizwan’s consistency, and the combined efforts of the bowling unit played pivotal roles in Pakistan’s triumph. Afghanistan fought valiantly towards the end of the match but fell short of the target, facing the heat of Pakistan’s well-rounded performance.
Throughout the ODI series, Pakistan looked like a well-rounded unit, performing well in all three departments. The men in green are now set to enter the Asia Cup as the number one ranked side in the world, as they play Nepal to kickstart their campaign.
