Gary Kirsten to Join Pakistan team Ahead of the England Tour

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced its plans for Gary Kirsten to assume his duties as the white-ball head coach for the national men’s team starting on 19 May in Leeds, marking the initiation of his two-year tenure.

Kirsten will join the national squad ahead of the four-match T20 series against England starting from May 22 in Headingley.

The 56-year-old South African was announced as the white ball head coach in April alongside the Australian Jason Gillespie as the red ball coach.

“I’m truly excited to embark on this new journey with the Pakistan men’s cricket team. It’s an honor to coach such a talented and dynamic team, and I’m eager to contribute to their success on the international stage,” Kirsten said.

In the meantime, the PCB has also announced the appointment of Simon Helmot as the fielding coach and David Reid as the mental performance coach, in accordance with recommendations put forth by the team management.

Reid is scheduled to join the team on May 20, remaining with them until the culmination of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. On the other hand, Helmot is expected to join the national team on May 31 in preparation for the prestigious event.

Aftab Khan, the current fielding coach, will transition into the role of High-Performance Coach for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup following Helmot’s incorporation into the team.
