West Indies Levels Series with a Comprehensive 120-Run Win
The West Indies produced a stirring comeback to level the two-match Test series against Pakistan with a resounding 120-run victory inside three days of the second Test in Karachi on Monday. The win marked the West Indies’ first Test victory on Pakistani soil in over 34 years, capping a dramatic turnaround after losing the opening Test by 127 runs.
Pakistan, chasing 253, resumed Day 3 at 75-5, needing 178 more runs to pull off a stunning win. However, left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican quickly extinguished any hopes of a fightback, running through the remaining batting lineup with a devastating spell of 5-27. Pakistan folded for just 133, sealing the West Indies’ dominant win and pushing the hosts to the bottom of the World Test Championship standings.
Warrican was the standout bowler of the series, claiming 19 wickets across the two Tests, a performance that underpinned his side’s success.
In the first innings, the visitors were reduced to a precarious 38-7 before a resilient effort from the tailenders. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite then led from the front with a measured half-century in the second innings, anchoring his team to a total of 244.
The win ended the West Indies’ 34-year wait for a Test victory in Pakistan.
