Take aways from PCB chairman press conference
The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, held a press conference today at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to announce Gary Kirsten as the white ball coach and Jason Gillespie as the red ball coach of the Pakistan men’s side. He also announced Azhar Mehmood as an assistant coach across the formats.
The PCB chairman talked about other aspects relating to Pakistan cricket. Below is the summary.
– Naqvi stated that Babar Azam will continue to lead the national cricket team until the Champions Trophy in 2025.
– Naqvi also expressed PCB’s determination to host the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. “We want the complete Champions Trophy in Pakistan. We have already submitted the schedule to the ICC. The ICC security team came to Pakistan and they were very happy with the arrangements.”
– “We will renovate Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Stadium in Karachi in the next 4-5 months,” said Naqvi, revealing the renovation plans of two iconic stadiums. “International construction companies who construct stadiums in the world will bid for cricket stadiums of Pakistan on 7 May. The international construction companies will design for the cricket stadiums of Pakistan.”
– Addressing recent incidents, Naqvi said an internal action has been taken against the players involved in the recent car accident ahead of the Pakistan-WI women’s series. He said that a chief security officer for the women’s team will be appointed to prevent such incidents in the future.
– The PCB chairman also revealed plans to appoint a new head coach for the women’s cricket team and emphasized the board’s commitment to advancing the women’s game in the country. “We have decided to appoint a new head coach of the women’s cricket team of Pakistan. We want to progress women’s cricket just like men in Pakistan.”
