South Africa Seals T20 Series with Clinical Chase Against Pakistan
South Africa clinched the three-match T20 series by winning the second match, following their victory in the first T20 on December 10.
Pakistan, after winning the toss, opted to bat first. Openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam took to the crease, but the start wasn’t ideal as captain Rizwan departed early. Babar Azam contributed a solid 31 off 20 balls, during which he made history by becoming the fastest player to score 11,000 T20 runs.
The highlight of Pakistan’s innings was young Saim Ayub, who has been in remarkable form recently. Saim narrowly missed his maiden T20 century, remaining unbeaten on a magnificent 98 off just 57 balls. Irfan Khan also added valuable support, scoring 30 off 16 deliveries. Pakistan set an imposing target of 207 runs for South Africa.
In response, South Africa’s chase was spearheaded by opener Reeza Hendricks, who delivered a stunning performance with 117 runs off just 63 balls. Despite Jahandad Khan’s early breakthroughs, dismissing two batters quickly, Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen ensured the visitors stayed on track. Their formidable partnership saw South Africa comfortably chase down the target, reaching 210 with the loss of only three wickets.
Scores in brief:
Pakistan: 206/5
South Africa: 210/3
