Sajid Stars with a Six-wicket Haul as Pakistan End Day One 194 Runs Behind
On the first day of the third Test between Pakistan and England at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Sajid Khan’s brilliant six-wicket haul helped Pakistan bowl England out for 267. By stumps, Pakistan trailed by 194 runs after a challenging but eventful opening day on Thursday.
England won the toss and opted to bat first, starting off well with a 56-run opening partnership. Zak Crawley was the first to fall, with Noman Ali providing Pakistan the breakthrough in the 14th over. Crawley’s dismissal triggered a middle-order collapse as England lost five wickets in a span of 13.2 overs, sinking to 118-6. Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Harry Brook were all dismissed cheaply, leaving England struggling against Pakistan’s spinners.
England found some stability in the form of a 105-run seventh-wicket stand between Smith and Atkinson. Pakistan dismissed the English batting line up for 267 runs.
Abdullah and Saim opened for Pakistan until their partnership was broken by Shoaib Bashir in the 10th over. Later, Kamran Ghulam was dismissed at 3 by Atkinson, leaving Pakistan at 46/3. Pakistan reached 73-3 in 23 overs by the end of play, with Shan Masood and Saud Shakeel at the crease.
