Pakistan Whitewash South Africa

Pakistan made history by becoming the first team to whitewash South Africa in an ODI series on their home soil, winning the rain-affected third match by 36 runs. Having already secured the series with victories in the first two games, Pakistan showcased their dominance once again to seal the 3-0 sweep.

The match, played under overcast conditions and interrupted by rain, was reduced to 47 overs per side. Batting first, Pakistan posted an imposing 308 runs, featuring a sensational century by Saim Ayub; his second of the series and third in just nine ODIs. A late blitz from Salman Agha and Tayyab Tahir also added quick runs, ensuring a competitive total.

South Africa’s innings suffered an early blow when captain Temba Bavuma was dismissed in the fourth over. Heinrich Klaasen once again emerged as the standout performer, scoring a resilient 81, with support from Corbin Bosch’s 40.

At 212 for 7, South Africa’s lower order crumbled, and they were bowled out for 271 in 42 overs.

Pakistan’s bowlers delivered another disciplined performance, with spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah leading the charge to secure a 36-run victory.
