Pakistan vs USA: Preview
Pakistan is set to face the USA in their opening match on Thursday, June 6 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. This is the first time both the teams will be facing each other in any format of the game.
USA has one win in the bag and a series win against Bangladesh leading upto the world that will boost their confidence whereas, Pakistan is coming from a series loss against England.
Pakistan, led by the prolific Babar Azam, enters the World Cup with high hopes and a robust squad. All rounder Imad Wasim was announced to miss out on the match due to injury.
The USA, making their debut in the T20 World Cup, will be looking to capitalise on their home advantage and create an upset. The American side, led by captain Monank Patel, has shown promise in recent qualifiers and will rely on a mix of experienced campaigners and emerging talents. The USA will aim to build on the momentum from their opening match victory against Canada.
Monank Patel in the pre-match presser said he is hopeful to beat Pakistan. “Once we have a good 30-40 minutes on the field against Pakistan, you never know. We can take the game away from them”.
USA’s strength is their experienced batting lineup, but Patel acknowledged that his team will face a tough challenge from Pakistan’s pace attack, particularly Mohammad Amir, whom they will need to “tackle well”.
The tournament’s opening match in Dallas saw both teams scoring in the 190s, a reassuring sign for fans concerned about the low-scoring games in New York.
