Riding on standout performances from Aiden Markram and debutant Corbin Bosch, the hosts surged to a first-innings lead of 90 runs before Pakistan fought back late in the day to close at 88 for 3, trailing by just two runs.
The day began with Pakistan striking early, as Naseem Shah dismissed Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jansen in quick succession, raising hopes of a swift cleanup. However, Aiden Markram stood firm, leading the fightback with a composed innings.
After lunch, Pakistan managed to dismiss Markram for 89, as Khurram Shahzad finally broke through at a crucial moment.
