Pakistan Bows Out of T20 World Cup
Pakistan’s hopes of progressing in the T20 World Cup were abruptly dashed on Friday following the abandonment of a crucial match between the United States and Ireland due to adverse weather conditions.
Pakistan started its world cup campaign after two consecutive heavy loses against USA and India that had already damaged its chances to progress towards the next round.
The match, scheduled to determine the final standings in Group A and potentially offer Pakistan a chance to advance, was delayed for over three hours as ground staff struggled to clear standing water from the outfield at the venue. Despite their efforts, the conditions remained unsuitable for play, leading officials to call off the match.
As a result of the washout, the United States secured their place in the Super Eights stage of the tournament, joining group leaders India in advancing from Group A. Meanwhile, Pakistan, Ireland, and Canada were left with no path forward.
