Pakistani left-arm spinner, Noman Ali, has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for the month of October. Noman won the award against South African pacer Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner.
The 37-year-old spinner was recognized for his exceptional performance in Pakistan’s recent 2-1 Test series victory over England, which took place on home turf. Ali’s contributions were instrumental in Pakistan’s thrilling series win, where his precise, consistent bowling played a vital role in key moments.
He ended up with impressive match figures of 11/147 and 9/130, guiding Pakistan to recover after losing the first Test. His standout performance came in the second Test, where, defending a target of 297, he produced career-best figures of 8/46. In the series decider in Rawalpindi, Noman’s all-round skills shone through. Batting at number nine, he contributed a resilient 45 runs, helping Pakistan secure a 77-run lead in the first innings. Following this, he delivered a match-winning six-wicket haul, bowling England out for just 112 runs.
“It is a great honour to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month,” Noman expressed his gratitude. “I am deeply grateful to my teammates who supported me throughout this historic home Test series victory against England. Such wins are always special for the team and the country.”
