Pakistan vs Canada: Preview
Pakistan plays Canada in a crucial must-win match at New York’s challenging pitch. This scenario is all too familiar for Pakistan where their campaign frequently hinges on high-stakes encounters.
Babar Azam-led Pakistan will be coming into this match after bearing two consecutive losses against USA and India; the India loss coming barely 48 hours ago. To have any chances to stay alive in the tournament, Pakistan have to beat Canada while maintaining a decent net run rate.
Meanwhile, Canada led by Saad bin Zafar is looking forward to causing another major upset after beating Ireland. Canadian batter Aaron Johnson said the New York pitch favours their team. “The fact that the wicket is playing some tricks, it levels the playing field for us, and we are looking to use that to our advantage.”
The Sunday match got delayed due to rain however, the weather is cloudy and humid today which will allow an uninterrupted full game.
The two teams have played each only once in T20is in 2008 where Pakistan ended up winning by 35 runs.
