Hamaray Heroes 2023 Review (Part 3)

A look at the heroes that featured in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League.

The HBL PSL Hamaray Heroes 2023, powered by Kingdom Valley, was another chart-buster season featuring thirty-four strong-headed individuals from different fields. In the final phase, a fresh batch of inspiring figures was rewarded for their numerous achievements.

Zoraiz Riaz is the founder of the world’s largest Facebook group, “Health Warriors,” which has been featured in The New York Times, Reuters, Guardian, DW*, and 25+ global papers. His group’s strength is above 330000 members, and to date, his group has helped respond to over 120,000 queries on his digital forum and managed the supply of food, provision of free cylinders, medical assistance, and helped various cases of cancer and dialysis as well through fundraising. Health Warriors is actively engaged in fighting malaria and dengue through the provision of mosquito nets across flood-affected areas.

An eye surgeon from Chitral, Dr. Zubaida Sirang, made headlines for becoming the first-ever Pakistani author to have her work featured on the prestigious Book Authority List. Her book Optics Made Easy: The Last Review of Clinical Optics (written for ophthalmology students as a last-minute revision tool) was included in the list of ‘Best Ophthalmology Books of All Time.’ Her book is one of the best sellers on Amazon.

In 2022, she established an optic center through a collaborative venture in Northern Pakistan where deserving patients are treated free of cost. Find out more about her achievements in this special documentary:

Aqeel Khan has been Pakistan’s top-ranked tennis player for the last 23 years, which is also the longest streak of maintaining the top spot in Pakistan. He has been representing Pakistan for the last 26 years and has won many accolades for Pakistan. He has bagged several gold, silver & bronze medals in different international tournaments, including Islamic Solidarity Games in 2005 & 2017.

He also holds the record for playing the most ties (2) for Pakistan in the Davis Cup, and in the coming September, he’s going to equal the record. He, along with Aisam-ul-Haq, steered Pakistan to a tremendous win over Slovenia in Davis Cup 2020 tie for the World Group 1 Playoffs. Watch a special documentary featuring his achievements:
