Babar Azam Opens up about Squad Selection and T20 World Cup Plans
Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam held a press conference today in Lahore after the announcement of the team squad for the upcoming tour of Ireland and England.
Additionally, discussions revolved around the team’s preparations and strategies for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.
Below is the summary from the press conference.
- Zaman Khan is a new ball bowler and we already have 4 new ball bowlers Amir, Naseem, Shaheen and Imad so Zaman couldn’t get selected in the squad.
- Muhammad Haris did not get enough opportunities after the last world cup. Despite multiple chances in PSL, he could not execute well. Rizwan, Fakhar, Saim and I are already in the top order, there’s not much space left.
- Hassan Ali’s inclusion in the squad is based on his experience in international cricket. He is not in the 15 member squad, but a backup bowler.
- We are confident of winning the T20 World Cup for Pakistan. We couldn’t cross the finishing line in 2021 and 2022, but we are hopeful this time around.
- There is no time to experiment with the rotation policy. We will play in the remaining matches with our full strength.
