Australia Targets Series Win in Adelaide, Pakistan Looks to Bounce Back
Australia heads into the second ODI at Adelaide Oval with a 1-0 lead in the series after a close 2-wicket victory over Pakistan at the MCG. The bowlers made the most of the conditions in Melbourne, restricting Pakistan’s total and taking regular wickets. However, a different challenge awaits them on Friday in Adelaide, where the pitch is traditionally far more batter-friendly.
In the first ODI, short-pitched bowling tactics were widely used by Pakistan, aiming to unsettle the Australian batsmen on a pitch that offered variable bounce. However, Adelaide’s shorter square boundaries require a different approach. Australian opener Matt Short pointed this out saying “We saw Pakistan’s strategy, (they were)bowling short. Adelaide’s shorter square boundaries may force Pakistan to rethink their strategy.”
For Pakistan, fast bowler Naseem Shah’s fitness was a major concern when he left the field complaining of leg cramps. Reportedly, his injury is not serious, and he’s expected to be fit for Adelaide.
Australia will look to secure the series with a win in Adelaide, while Pakistan will aim to level things before heading into the third and final game on Sunday in Perth.
